This interactive session will get us started for the day. Come prepared to share your best camp stories and your “Why”?

10:15–12:00 Social Emotional Curriculum for Regulation

Come and learn some simple yet incredibly useful tools, language, and approaches based on social-emotional learning curriculums such as Zones of Regulation. We will engage in group activities that involve use of concepts such as following the group plan, social mapping, expected and unexpected reactions, and more. You will leave ready to engage in group activities with your kids this summer, using these simple yet grounding concepts to keepeveryone well-regulated in the group.

10:15–11:00 Kids WILL Do Dumb Stuff, But YOU Can’t!

Are you ready for summer as a counselor? Join this session to learn some basic safety, operational and procedural do’s, and don’ts as you get ready for summer! This session will be a facilitated discussion on what it means to be a positive leader and how to have impact on your campers. Summer camps and programs have a lot of risk in them. We will also walk the path of identifying areas of risk in your camps and programs. Together we will learn what it means to be a leader who is present in their position and always looking to mitigate risk.

Come ready to learn new games to use in a pinch, rainy day, or just general down time!

Nature Activities: Pocket Tools for Nature Exploration

Small "tools" can be combined to make a big impression with campers of all ages. Learn fun ways to teach cloud identification, observe one small square with a ruler, create a nature treasure box and more!

11:15–12:00 Easy Nature Crafts

Nature crafts can be fun and easy to do rain or shine. Learn a few ideas on how to entertain campers of all ages with things found in nature. Learn how to make nature paint brushes, build an insect home, a nature crown and more!

The Wheels on the Bus Go Round & Round (but what if they don’t?)

In this session you will go over field trip safety, emergency situations, and some time fillers during down time.

1:00–3:00 Camp Challenges

Your staff will need to come together and work as a unit, to compete against all the other Recreation Departments. Creative thinking and teamwork will be put to the test to complete the gauntlet of Team Building activities.

Departments should come prepared to show off their camp spirit, points will be awarded for several unique challenges. Make sure to bring: a change of clothes, a towel, a pink flamingo, face paint, costumes, wigs, wacky hats, flags/banners, noise makers and anything else that your camp might use for theme weeks!

3:00–3:30 Closing remarks, Awards, Raffle, and Ice Cream!

Time to relax, visit and enjoy a mountainous bowl of ice cream with all the toppings you can fit! Win great door prizes to take back and use at camp☺
